The Church…

Congratulations to you on your coming marriage. Some of life’s most abiding satisfactions are to be found in a Christian home. We want to wish you the very best in your new venture and we want to help you make your marriage and your home the most satisfying and rewarding experience of you your life.

Experience shows that couples with similar religious backgrounds having Church weddings, find more happiness and enduring values in marriage and in their new homes than do others. We are anxious to give you the opportunity of the best wedding this Church has to offer. The services of the minister are freely available to you for pre-marital counseling; our Wedding Hostess will be happy to advise and help you with your plans.

The Wedding…

The rites of Christian matrimony may be performed in the Church or in the home. The wedding is a deeply religious ceremony. For this reason, it is best performed in a Church, where the couple may kneel together in prayer, in the first moment after they are declared man and wife.

The Minister…

The Minster of the Church is expected to perform all the weddings in the Sanctuary unless other arrangements are made through him.

Arrangements…

The church maintains a Wedding Hostess whose primary responsibility is to help you plan your wedding so that it will be both beautiful and sacred. She may be contacted through the Church Office and will be glad to discuss the details and arrangements for use of the Church or reception rooms. If there is no reception, the bridal party should receive their guest in the narthex or lounge. All facilities for a wedding reception are available.

Decorations…

Decorations in keeping with the religious service are permitted. They should be cleared with the Wedding Hostess. The church has altar candles and a kneeler with a white satin kneeling pillow, white aisle runner, bows and ribbons that may be used.

Music…

The church maintains a regular pianist. Several excellent soloists are on call. The Wedding Hostess will obtain the services of one of them, if desired. Musical selections should be reviewed with the pianist and hostess, and chosen in keeping with the highest tradition of Christian marriage.

Pictures…

Pictures may be taken before or after the wedding in any part of the church. They are not to be taken during the ceremony, with the exception of when the bride enters the center aisle and after the benediction has been pronounced by the minister. “Still-non-flash” shots, from the narthex, are allowed during the kneeling period. This allows the ceremony to remain sacred.

Bride’s Responsibilities…

The Bride sets the date for the wedding, arranges for the church, the gowns of her attendants, the decorations of the church, and assumes responsibility for the reception. Charges are payable to the Wedding Hostess on or before the rehearsal.

Groom’s Responsibilities…

The groom provides gifts for the ushers and male attendants, when desired, and the minister’s honorarium. This should be presented to the minister by the best man when the wedding certificates are signed. The groom also provides the bride’s bouquet and corsages for the mothers.

Rehearsal…

A rehearsal for the entire Bridal Party is included in arrangements for Sanctuary weddings. The Hostess will clarify all details and assist the Bridal Party to go through the service with confidence and poise.

Miscellaneous…

The programs for the Order of Services for the wedding can be provided by the church, upon request. The program is a basic outline of the Wedding Ceremony, for your guest to follow throughout the Wedding Ceremony.

Guests are requested not to throw rice inside the church buildings.

Only non-alcoholic punch may be served at receptions.

Brides are asked to please instruct their ushers of the importance of the “No Smoking” rules in all of the church buildings.

For more information about our service please call the church office at (310) 638-5163.
